In the days following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneaplis police, this country has experienced an out cry for justice and a demand for reform to a system which would enable such egregious acts to occur. The circumstances surrounding his death are reprehensible. They are appalling to the sensibilities of the public and to vast majority of law enforcement officers who daily serve their communities with honor and integrity. Any law enforcement officer can allege a justification for the actions resulting in Floyd's death does not deserve to wear the badge or lay claim to serve in the interest of justice for their community.
It has been, and remains, the mission of the Waynesboro Police Department to strive, each day, to serve our community to to the best of our capabilities. We value your trust and fully appreciate the responsibilities of our position. Our agency staff is vetted, hired, trained and disciplined with these goals foremost in mind. We can not fulfill our responsibility to our community or our chosen profession if we fail to daily uphold these standards.
