It is the mission of the Waynesboro Police Department to contribute to the quality of life in the community by constantly striving to establish and sustain an environment that is free from the fear of crime. Officers are committed to the protection of life and property; the preservation of safety and good order; fair and impartial enforcement of federal, state and local laws; and the defense of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Constitution of the United States of America. Officers are expected to exercise the discharge of their duties with diligence, fidelity, honor and integrity in their personal and professional lives.
To fulfill this mission, it is the responsibility of the Waynesboro Police Department to develop and maintain standards of performance that ensure our objectives are achieved in an effective, efficient, consistent and fair manner. These standards must reflect a commitment to a high quality of service, ethical behavior and adherence to the rule of law. Standards must encompass all areas of department operations, including planning, financial management, information management, personnel selection, training and education, assignment and promotion of personnel, and individual performance review and evaluation.
The members of the Waynesboro Police Department recognize the necessity of sustaining a working partnership with the community in an environment of mutual respect and trust to succeed in accomplishing this mission.
