At approximately 12:45 p.m. on 1/26/2022, The Waynesboro Police responded to a reported suicide threat with shots fired in the 200 block of West Second Street. A perimeter was established and residents were evacuated from adjacent apartments. The Pennsylvania State Police SERT were contacted and requested to assist. Attempts to negotiate a surrender with the subject were unsuccessful. Tactical entry was made and a search conducted. The subject was contacted and taken into custody by PSP. There were no injuries to the subject or officers. The scene was cleared and streets re-opened at approximately 11:00 p.m. In addition to the Pennsylvania State Police, the Waynesboro Police Department was assisted on scene by Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department's fire police, Waynesboro EMS, Waynesboro Fire Department, PA Game Commission, Franklin County Coroner's Office, Washington Township Police and Waynesboro maintenance center employees.
