Officers responded to a report of a home invasion and stabbing at a residence on Harrison Avenue in the Borough of Waynesboro. On Sunday, July 17, 2022 at approximately 4p, officers responded to a report that one or two masked individuals had forced entry into a home on Harrison Avenue. One resident was transported to Meritus where they were treated and released for 13 stab wounds. A second resident was treated and released for a leg injury at the Waynesboro Hospital emergency room. It was reported that one assailant potentially remained within the residence. A perimeter was established and a tactical team from the State Police was requested to assist in a search for the assailant. The residence was cleared and no assailant was located. Preliminary investigation indicated no continued threat to the community. This incident remains an active investigation. WPD officers were assisted by officers from Washington Twp PD, PSP, Waynesboro VFD and fire police, the forensic support unit from the Franklin County Coroner’s office, Medic 2, the Waynesboro ambulance company and the mobile command unit from the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services.
