WAYNESBORO CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION

POLICE PATROLPERSON

 The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Waynesboro will be holding examinations for the position of Police Patrolperson


The examination for Police Patrolperson will be held as follows:  physical agility test on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at the Waynesboro Area High School Athletic Stadium; and written examination on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., in the second floor Council Chambers of Borough Hall, 55 East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA.

 
In order to be placed on the list of eligible candidates for this position, an interested person must: 


(a) Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.  (Copy of birth certificate MUST be submitted along with application).

(b) Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.  (Copy MUST be submitted along with application.)

(c) Must possess a valid driver’s license.  (Copy MUST be submitted along with application.)

(d) Secure an application packet for the position of Police Patrolperson from the Borough Hall, 55 East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA, during regular business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or request via email at melinda@waynesboropa.org.  Applications must be completed and returned in a sealed envelope addressed to the Waynesboro Civil Service Commission, Borough Hall, 55 East Main Street, P. O.  Box 310, Waynesboro, PA 17268, no later than Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 5:00 p.m.  

 (e) Undergo and achieve a passing score on a physical agility test.  Failure to achieve a passing score will eliminate candidates from proceeding further through the process.

(f) Undergo and achieve a passing score on a competitive written examination.

(g) Appear for appropriate oral interviews.

(h) Must live within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and within a radius of fifty (50) air miles of the geographical center of the Center Square of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, or agree to become a resident and establish domicile prior to the expiration of their probationary period, if appointed.

(i) Individuals who successfully satisfy all of the requirements will be placed on an eligibility list for the position of Police Patrolperson. 


Veterans who qualify shall receive ten (10) points pursuant to Section 506 or Section 1404 of the Borough’s Civil Service Regulations. 


Police Patrolperson applicants are not required to be Act 120 certified prior to taking the test; however, individuals with Act 120 certification or equivalent will be granted ten (10) points pursuant to Section 507 of the Borough’s Civil Service Regulations.
