At 1:34 PM the Chambersburg Police Department responded to the area of Byers Ave to assist the Chambersburg Fire Department with traffic control for an active building fire. The fire is in the 900 block of Byers Ave. We are asking everyone to avoid the area until further notice. Your cooperation is appreciated.
On 1/16/19 Chambersburg Police responded to the 1500 block of Orchard Drive for an auto accident. A suv struck the trailer of a tractor trailer. The driver of the suv was flown by LifeLion to Hershey Medical Center. The driver’s condition is unknown at this time. Members of the Chambersburg Police Accident Team responded to the scene. Orchard Drive is closed to traffic between Wayne Avenue and South Main Street. Orchard Drive is expected to open by midnight.
Update: Mill Road is now open to all traffic. The pole that was struck has been temporarily stabilized. This pole will be replaced later this week. The operator of the vehicle, Abdoul Saidou was transported to Chambersburg Hospital by EMS. Saidou had minor injuries.
Chambersburg police are on scene of a single vehicle auto accident in the 200 block of Mill Road. A single vehicle struck a telephone pole. Motorists are asked to avoid the area as Mill Road is closed between Orchard Drive and Delano Drive.
On 12/13/18, the Chambersburg Police Dept. responded to a report of a bomb threat via email to 38 W King St The email demanded payment in bitcoins by the end of the day or a bomb would be detonated. The same type of email was reported in other areas of the state as well as other states across the country. A check of the business was conducted as a precautionary and no devices were located.
