The Chambersburg Police Department is partnering in a Border to Border Seat Belt Enforcement Operation scheduled May 21st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of a “Click It or Ticket” Seat Belt Enforcement Mobilization from May 14 – June 3, 2018.
The Chambersburg Police Department will partner with 350 municipal law enforcement agencies in Pennsylvania and 24 other states to send a “Zero Tolerance” message to motorists that driving or riding without a seat belt will result in a ticket, no matter the state.
To increase safety on Pennsylvania’s roadways, State and Municipal Police will conduct Traffic Enforcement Zones and Roving Patrols to contact unbelted occupants in the Borough of Chambersburg.
Last year, the Border to Border Mobilization saw participation from 263 Pennsylvania municipal law enforcement agencies during the four-hour operation. A total of 339 citations were issued for seat belt violations including 30 child safety seat violations. An additional 3,040 citations were also issued for other traffic infractions.
The 2018 effort which will includes 350 Pennsylvania municipal agencies supplementing the national “Click It or Ticket” Mobilization which runs through June 3, 2018. As part of the initiative, PennDOT distributes federal enforcement funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
