Phone Scam

On 10/14/16 Chambersburg Police were alerted to a possible phone scam.  A resident in Chambersburg reported that today he received a call from the Chambersburg Police.  The possible officer that called him reported that he had a warrant for his arrest and the police were coming to arrest him on 10/15/16.  The resident felt that the call came from the police department because of the number that showed on his Caller ID.  The resident was checked and he did not have any warrants.

The Chambersburg Police want to remind citizens that the police department does not call and request money over the phone.  Scammers also can use programs to make it look like you are receiving an official call when it is not.  The following link is to the Federal Trade Commission website with more information.
